Sadly WEER says Good-Bye
and signs off
WEER on 88.7 FM
Sadly at 8 am on Oct. 1st 2011 WEER said good bye.
WEER has told you over the last several months that WEER has been struggling. We finally found a grant writer to work with but it’s too late. We’ve tried to explain that the only way WEER could survive was with community support especially in the way of benefactors. We have been unsuccessful in getting that kind of support. We have worked hard to accomplish our mission - to that end we were succeeding. But without benefactor and down the line grant support and the support of businesses and the community WEER has to say goodbye. To those of you who have supported us we can only tell you how grateful we are and how much your support has meant to us ...we can only say Thank you. It is with much sadness that WEER admits even though we still believe in our mission of aiding our wonderful local non-profit organization ....WEER had to say goodbye

Hamptons Community Radio Corporation
For clarification purposes. WEER is a new community radio station at 88.7FM. We are not affiliated with WLIU/WPPB. The talk programming they run is NPR and BBC syndicated programming. We do not run either. We believe that there are many perhaps too many stations running NPR on the East End. We produce and run local programming for and about the East End of Long Island. To be a local community station serving our residents is our goal. Once again, we are not affiliated with WLIU/WPPB or any other radio station or syndicator.
